What do you think can be done to prevent the wrangles caused by land evictions and encroachment?
BACKGROUND
There have been a lot of land
wrangles, controversy and evictions emerging of recent in several areas of the
Rwenzori region and other parts of the country.
In March this year, for example, 480
residents in Kyegegwa were evicted for allegedly encroaching on forest
reserves. The residents are now homeless and demanding compensation from the
government.
However, the government is also being burdened by citizens who claim ignorance of the law when it comes to encroaching and
squatting on land that they do not own.
Question
What do you think can be done to prevent the wrangles caused by land
evictions and encroachment?
