BACKGROUND

Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is concluding a mass registration exercise of Ugandans for their National Identity Cards. However, there are some calls from the public to extend the registration deadline citing certain difficulties. 

In Masaka, faulty kits and server breakdowns slowed down registration. In Ssembabule, registration slowed down from 35 people a day to 10 people a day. In Kalungu, data storage was affected by faulty batteries and flash sticks.
